Disgraced actress Noriko Sakai appeared at a press conference Thursday night, following her release on bail earlier in the day.
"My weakness caused me to give in to illegal drugs and caused grief to many people," she said. "I pledge to repent and atone for this crime for the rest of my life.
"To all those who have supported me until now, to my fans in Japan and abroad, I am truly, truly sorry."
Sakai was accompanied by her attorney, and by Sun Music Vice President Masahisa Aizawa. Her attorney explained that the actress would be taking no questions from the press, as she was checking into hospital for mental care, and asked for restraint from the media.
