Nearly 8,000 people from around the world have applied to be a "caretaker" on Hamilton Island on the Great Barrier Reef after Australian tourist officials described the position as the "Best Job in the World."
Earlier this month, Tourism Queensland, the organizer of the campaign, announced the job with responsibilities that include diving and snorkeling in the beautiful surroundings of the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef, and uploading blogs, photos and videos every week to attract tourists to the island. Immediately after the campaign was launched it made headlines across the world, and the server for its Web site crashed. Applicants are required to post a one-minute video on the site by Feb. 22.
