M5.5 quake jolts Kanto-Koshin region
TOKYO (Kyodo) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.5 Saturday morning jolted the Kanto-Koshin region including Yamanashi, Kanagawa and Tokyo, and Shizuoka prefecture, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
The 7:43 a.m. quake measured lower 5 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in the eastern part of Yamanashi Prefecture, where its focus was located at a depth of about 20 kilometers, and 4 in parts of Kanagawa and Shizuoka, the agency said.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage from the quake and no tsunami warning was issued.
